Pets for Veterans

We deeply appreciate the service and sacrifices made by our veterans and active military members.

To show our gratitude, we offer the Pets for Veterans program, providing a $25 discount on pet adoptions year-round. This program is our way of helping veterans find a loyal companion while promoting health, happiness, and healing through the joy of pet ownership.

A Special Program to Honor Our Heroes

How the Pets for Veterans Program Works

Since 2017, veterans and active military members have been eligible for a $25 discount on any pet adoption from Humane Society of Sumter County. Whether you’re looking for a dog, cat, or another animal companion, we encourage you to explore our shelter and find the perfect pet partner. With proof of service, this discount is available year-round.

Please note that this discount cannot be combined with any other coupons, discounts, or specials.

Why Adopt a Pet?

Adopting a pet brings numerous benefits, especially for veterans. Pets provide companionship, reduce stress, and can help improve mental and physical well-being. Our goal is to match veterans with pets that complement their lifestyles, providing both the veteran and the animal with a second chance at a better life.
