Explore Our Campus
In 2001, Humane Society of Sumter County acquired a 5-acre parcel of land to build our campus, beginning with a simple 20×30 shed for storage. Over the years, we’ve expanded to meet the needs of the community and our animals.
Our campus now boasts several state-of-the-art facilities designed to care for our animals, provide a safe environment for their well-being, and support our staff and volunteers.
Current Campus Facilities
Offices/Administration
Our administrative hub, where day-to-day operations are managed.
Catty Shack
A unique observation space for adult cats, featuring indoor and outdoor areas where they can relax and play.
Kitten Wonderland
Designed for all cats under one year old, this space provides a safe and nurturing environment for kittens.
Kitty Q
Our quarantine kennels for post-surgical and medical observation, ensuring cats are healthy before joining their peers in the main cat areas.
Ralph's Place
Our initial observation area for dogs, featuring 12 outdoor runs and indoor kennels.
It also includes a medical quarantine space to monitor dogs before they move to our adoption kennels.
House of Paws
Home to 22 outdoor runs and indoor kennels for adoptable dogs.
This building also houses our commercial laundry facility, which helps keep the entire shelter clean and sanitary.
Play Yards for Dogs
Play Yard 1
Used for our Playgroups, where dogs can socialize and interact in a safe, supervised environment.
Play Yard 2
The Pavilion Yard provides shaded areas and a larger space for dogs to exercise, ensuring they get plenty of room to run and play.
Play Yard 3
This yard is perfect for dogs that need space to run.
The yard includes a long line to help contain fence-jumping dogs, keeping them safe while they enjoy the outdoors.
Play Yard 4 & 5
A lively environment where dogs can engage in activities that stimulate both their minds and bodies. The inclusion of agility equipment and swimming pools is a great way to keep them active and help them learn new skills while having fun.
It’s a favorite among dogs who love playing and learning new skills with volunteers.
