Available Dogs

The Adoption Process
Meet the Requirements
Adopters must be at least 21 years old.
Be ready to provide your veterinarian’s name and contact information if you have current or past pets.
Browse Our Adoptable Pets
You can view adoptable dogs on our website or visit us in person at Humane Society of Sumter County in Lake Panasoffkee.
Cats are also available at local partner locations, including Sparr and PetSmart.
Complete the Adoption Application
Fill out the online Dog or Cat Adoption Application form.
Once submitted, our Adoption Counselors will review your application and follow up with you. This may take a few days.
Set Up a Meet & Greet
Once your application is approved, we’ll schedule a meet & greet with the dog you’re interested in.
If you have existing pets, a meet & greet will also be arranged to ensure compatibility.
Finalize the Adoption
Work with our adoption counselor to complete the paperwork and finalize the adoption.
Be sure to bring the following: Driver’s license (or FL ID card) with your current address. A pet carrier for all cats, kittens, or small dogs.
Accepted payment types: Cash, check, Visa, AMEX, MasterCard, or Discover.
Take Your New Friend Home!
If the dog is already spayed or neutered, they’ll go home with you the same day.
If not, arrangements will be made to have the procedure completed at our veterinarian’s office before they can join you.
These dogs are ready for their forever homes!
Each one is unique, with a big heart and an even bigger spirit. If any of these amazing dogs catches your eye, fill out our Adoption Application and we’ll be in touch to help you meet your new best friend!
Many of our dogs participate in playgroups and love to socialize with other pups. Get a closer look at their personalities by watching their YouTube videos!
