Our HS/SPCA is asking our community for help with the larger than usual medical expenses for a recently rescued year old Labrador mix puppy we named Rane.
In mid-January, she was found as a stray dog struck by a car with no owners coming to claim her at the County facility. Upon availability, we pulled her out and brought her for immediate medical attention and discovered she had a dislocated hip and three pelvic fractures. In addition, she was not spayed or micro-chipped, had fleas and was slightly malnourished but Rane still displayed a loving joyful personality despite all she had experienced.
Based on surgical options, Rane may be required to have the more extreme option of her hind leg amputated due to the severity of the damage and avoidance of long-term pain. Her costs have been estimated between $1000-$1500 in addition to physical therapy. Some funds have been already been donated by our kind shelter staff and volunteers.
For those interested in contributing to Rane’s recovery for a chance at adoption in to a permanent loving and safe home, please make a donation to our Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County, Inc., PO Box 67, Lake Panasoffkee, FL 33538 with a memo of “Rane/HOPE Fund.”
The HOPE Fund was created to assist abused and neglected animals in emergencies or with critical needs in their care and named in honor of a newborn kitten which was witnessed to being thrown from a moving vehicle and saved by caring Sumter residents. Any funds exceeding Rane’s needs will be applied for future animals in such need. Your help is so valued as our HS/SPCA can only operate thanks to the support of our community. Donations permit us to continue such necessary work, restoring animals in need to health and placing them in their forever homes. Please help us by sending a tax-deductible donation today to make it “Rain on Rane” today!
