In recognition of February being “Spay/Neuter Awareness” Month, our Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County (HS/SPCA) is providing funding for approximately 300 FREE spay/neuter vouchers for the pets of qualifying Sumter County residents.

This community assistance program is a vital necessity in reducing the pet over-population problem facing Sumter County animals who are then at risk for potential euthanasia. Funding goes quickly and unwanted litters appear even quicker, so apply now and help reduce the pet overpopulation problem within Sumter County by contacting our shelter at (352)793-9117, Monday-Friday between 9am-5pm or at 994 CR 529A, in Lake Panasoffkee.

HS/SPCA Shelter Manager, Anne Miller mentioned our ambitious goal: “2017, in recognition of our 35th anniversary, our shelter is putting out a challenge to raise enough funding for 2017 spay/neuter vouchers for local dogs and cats in need. So if our community wishes to see changes made in a positive direction with long-term impact, they can help either with a donation towards this program or for those qualifying, apply now as a responsible pet owner and become part of the solution by having your pet(s) neutered.”

This FREE program is a critical necessity towards ending animal suffering and homelessness. Donations towards our “Big Fix” Spay/Neuter voucher program will continue reducing the euthanasia rate of homeless pets within Sumter County.
