As interest in private aviation soars, local pilots and the Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County are teaming up to celebrate the beauty of Spring with a benefit Easter Spring Fling Fly-In.
Private aircraft from all over Florida will share in the April 15th Fly-In festivities from 9am-noon.
The public will have an opportunity to learn more about private aviation and becoming a pilot, visit the HS/SPCA’s welcome table with many great items for pet lovers and share in a delicious $5 pancake breakfast served from 9-11am at the FreeFlight Airport.
Event organizer, Frank Arenas, has opened his expanding aviation facility along with volunteers from the Village Flyers Club where regional private pilots will be in attendance to share their knowledge. Along with food, music, prizes and up-close private aircraft viewing, an exciting chance drawing for $100 worth of scratch-off FL lottery tickets will be available for only $10 per chance to visitors and drawn at 11:45am. Arenas added that “participants in this community event will help local animals in need through the work of our Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County.” That day, until 4pm, the Humane Society/SPCA will have many wonderful animals to meet at their shelter not far from the Fly-In for interested adopters.
The City of Coleman will also be hosting its Easter Egg Hunt adjacent to the Fly-In at 10am so that attendees to each event can share in both. The Free Flight Airport (2FA6) is located off of US Hwy. 301 at 1511 Taylor Avenue in Coleman. A $5 parking donation on the airport property will also benefit the HS/SPCA.
